Exclusive to Haunted Heritage Ghost Hunt – Pleasley Pit Located to the north-west of Pleasley village, a former coal mine in central England. The Pit was sunk in the 1870s and produced coal until 1983. It still retains its headstock, engine houses, and steam winders for all to see. Pleasley Colliery is now a scheduled monument with Grade II listing. It has been developed and maintained as a mining heritage museum. Coal mining accidents Coal mining was a dangerous occupation. There were many accidental deaths at the Pit between 1875 and 1967, some as young as 14 years old. Not just down the Pit, many accidents happened on the surface.
