Pleasley Pit, near Bolsover in Derbyshire, is a former colliery whose shafts were sunk from 1873 by the Stanton Iron Company. Coal was produced at the site until the colliery closed in 1983. Surviving structures include the winding engine house, a tall brick chimney and the headstocks above the two shafts. The site was scheduled as an ancient monument in 1997 in recognition of its industrial significance. Pleasley Pit is now cared for as a mining heritage site, preserving the surface remains of one of the region's coal mines.
