Home to the world's largest prehistoric stone circle, Avebury has drawn people for thousands of years. But beyond its famous monuments lies a historic village filled with unexplained legends, mysterious discoveries, tragic events and centuries of ghostly folklore. On this immersive 90-minute guided experience, we'll explore the historic streets and buildings of Avebury village, uncovering the stories that many visitors never hear. From ancient beliefs and mysterious disappearances to haunted locations, local legends and reported paranormal encounters, you'll discover a side of Avebury that exists beyond the guidebooks. While the surrounding prehistoric stone circles form an important part of Avebury's history and folklore, our guided route focuses on the historic village itself rather than entering the stone circles. We'll still explore the fascinating stories, beliefs and mysteries associated with these ancient monuments, which visitors are welcome to explore independently outside the tour. Unlike many ghost walks, this experience is firmly rooted in historical research. Every location has been carefully researched to separate documented history from local folklore, allowing you to decide for yourself where fact ends and mystery begins. At points along the way, guests are invited to take part in an optional paranormal investigation using a selection of equipment, including EMF meters, dowsing rods and other investigative tools. Participation is entirely optional, and the experience remains enjoyable whether you're a sceptic, a believer or simply curious. Whether you're interested in history, archaeology, folklore or the paranormal, this unique experience offers a fascinating journey through the darker history of one of Britain's most remarkable villages. **Duration:** Approximately 90 minutes. **Suitable for ages 10+.** Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear suitable footwear, as parts of the village route may include uneven surfaces. The guided route focuses exclusively on the historic village, using public highways and other areas where the tour is permitted to operate. The prehistoric stone circles are not entered as part of the guided experience, although visitors are welcome to explore them independently.
