1. Who we are

HauntSeek is a UK discovery and comparison platform for ghost hunts, ghost walks, paranormal investigations, haunted overnight stays and spooky theatre shows. For any privacy question, email hello@hauntseek.co.uk.

2. What we collect

• Usage data. Pages and events viewed, searches made, and which operator links you click. This is tied to a random anonymous ID, not to your name.
• Technical data. Browser type, referring page and approximate request details, used to keep the site working and to filter out bot traffic.
• Location you enter. If you type a postcode or use “near me”, we use it only to sort results by distance. We do not store your precise location.
• Account data. If you sign in, your email address and sign-in details are held by our authentication provider.
• Emails you send us. Anything you send to our contact address, so we can reply.

3. Cookies and similar storage

We use two kinds only:

• Essential. Keeping you signed in and remembering that you have seen the cookie notice.
• Measurement (optional). A random anonymous session ID so we can count genuine visitors and clicks rather than bots. This is only used if you choose "Accept" on the cookie notice. If you choose "Essential only", no session ID is created and we do not record your searches or event views.

We do not use advertising, marketing or cross-site tracking cookies. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, which will show the cookie notice again.

4. Why we use it

To run and improve the site, to show operators how many visitors we send them, and to protect the service from automated abuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating an accurate, useful listings service, and your consent where required.

5. Sharing

We never sell your data. Operators receive aggregate click and referral counts only, never personal details. We use trusted service providers for hosting, database and email delivery, who process data on our instructions. When you click through to an operator you leave HauntSeek and that operator’s own privacy policy applies.

6. Where your data is held

The site is served from a global content network, so pages may be delivered from a server close to you. Our database and stored records are held in the EU (Ireland). Where any provider transfers data outside the UK/EEA, appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses apply.

7. How long we keep it

Anonymous click and search records are kept for up to 24 months so we can report trends. Account data is kept until you ask us to delete it. Emails are kept while relevant to your enquiry.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@hauntseek.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

9. Children

HauntSeek is intended for adults. Many listed events have their own minimum age requirements set by the operator.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
