Exeter Ghost Walk

About this event

Step into the shadowed side of one of Devon's oldest cities on the Exeter Ghost Walk — an atmospheric evening exploring the stories, legends and unexplained accounts woven into Exeter's long and complex past. Led by an Extours host, you'll discover the darker layers of the city's history as we explore locations linked to wartime tragedy, medieval life, ancient pathways and reports of ghostly encounters. From hidden lanes to centuries-old streets, Exeter's past offers a rich setting for an evening of mystery and discovery. Guests may also choose to take part in optional hands-on paranormal investigation using authentic equipment such as EMF meters and dowsing rods. Whether you prefer to participate or simply absorb the stories and atmosphere, the experience is designed to intrigue rather than frighten — with no jump scares, no theatrics, and a focus on genuine history and accounts from the area. Age Guidance – Earlier walks are family-friendly and open to under-16s (recommended age 8+). – Later walks are 16+ to offer an adults-only experience. – Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Weather Walks continue in most conditions; if severe weather creates unsafe circumstances, we will postpone and offer an alternative date. Interactive, atmospheric and grounded in Exeter's distinctive heritage, the Exeter Ghost Walk offers a memorable way to experience the city's past and its mysteries.
