Lacock Ghost Walk – Tour Description Step into the shadows of one of England's best-preserved historic villages on the Lacock Ghost Walk, an evening exploration of faith, folklore, power and lingering mystery. Lacock grew under the influence of its medieval abbey, shaping a community where daily life, belief and authority were tightly controlled. Unlike many places, the village escaped large-scale modern development, leaving behind streets and spaces where centuries of history remain close beneath the surface. Guided by an Extours host, you'll hear researched accounts of unusual events, enduring legends and unexplained experiences connected to Lacock's historic streets, churchyard and abbey grounds — uncovering stories often hidden beneath the village's picture-postcard appearance. Guests may choose to take part in optional paranormal investigation using EMF meters, dowsing rods and other recognised tools, or simply enjoy the atmosphere and storytelling as the walk progresses. We avoid gimmicks and jump scares. Our approach is thoughtful and immersive, aiming to intrigue rather than terrify by exploring the unanswered questions and quiet mysteries woven into Lacock's long and layered past. Age Guidance Early walks are family-friendly and open to under-16s (recommended age 8+). Later evening walks are 16+ to provide a more mature experience. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on all walks. Weather Walks run in most conditions. If severe weather makes the event unsafe, the walk will be postponed and an alternative date offered. Quiet, atmospheric and deeply rooted in local history, the Lacock Ghost Walk offers a rare opportunity to experience this remarkable village after dark — and to consider what may still linger when the day visitors have gone. Additional Information Please note that our ghost walks take place entirely in publicly accessible outdoor areas. We do not enter any buildings or locations that are privately owned or require admission, including those managed by the National Trust. Our ghost walks will take you to the oldest remaining parts of the area, while hearing fascinating, often forgotten historical insights and local ghost stories connected to the locations visited. For those who wish, there is also the optional opportunity to take part in authentic paranormal investigation, using recognised equipment — if you're feeling brave!
