Bideford Ghost Walk

About this event

Bideford Ghost Walk – Tour Description Discover the hidden history of Bideford on an evening ghost walk exploring the town's medieval origins, river trade, folklore, darker chapters and accounts of the unexplained. Set along the banks of the River Torridge, Bideford's historic quayside, ancient bridge and old town streets provide an atmospheric backdrop for stories shaped by commerce, superstition, punishment and belief across the centuries. Guided by an Extours host, you'll hear researched tales of unusual events, lingering legends and reported encounters linked to some of Bideford's most historic locations — from its famous long bridge and riverside routes to areas connected with trial, fear and folklore. Guests may choose to take part in optional paranormal investigation using EMF meters, dowsing rods and other recognised tools, or simply enjoy the storytelling and atmosphere as the walk progresses. We avoid gimmicks and jump scares. Our aim is to intrigue rather than terrify, exploring the unanswered mysteries and unexplained experiences woven into Bideford's past. Age Guidance Early walks are family-friendly and open to under-16s (recommended age 8+). Later evening walks are 16+ to provide an adults-only experience. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on all walks. Weather Walks run in most conditions. If severe weather makes the event unsafe, the walk will be postponed and an alternative date offered. Rooted in local history and riverside folklore, the Bideford Ghost Walk offers a compelling way to uncover the stories and mysteries that continue to linger in this North Devon town after dark.
