Swindon Ghost Walk

About this event

Swindon Ghost Walk – Tour Description Discover the hidden history of Swindon Old Town on an evening ghost walk exploring its market origins, civic power, lost buildings, folklore and accounts of the unexplained. Long before the railway reshaped Swindon, Old Town was a small but busy market settlement where trade, punishment, faith and superstition shaped daily life. Beneath modern streets and familiar buildings lie centuries of forgotten stories and unanswered questions. Guided by an Extours host, you'll hear researched accounts of unusual events, lingering legends and reported encounters connected to some of Old Town's most historic locations — including former market spaces, civic buildings and sites now lost to time. Guests may choose to take part in optional paranormal investigation using EMF meters, dowsing rods and other recognised tools, or simply enjoy the storytelling and atmosphere as the walk unfolds. We avoid gimmicks and jump scares. Our aim is to intrigue rather than terrify, exploring the mysteries and unexplained experiences woven into Swindon's earliest history. Age Guidance Early walks are family-friendly and open to under-16s (recommended age 8+). Later evening walks are 16+ to offer an adults-only experience. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on all walks. Weather Walks run in most conditions. If severe weather makes the event unsafe, the walk will be postponed and an alternative date offered. Thoughtful, atmospheric and grounded in local history, the Swindon Ghost Walk offers a distinctive way to experience Old Town — and uncover the stories that may still linger after dark.
