Dunster Castle Paranormal Investigation Evening Step inside Dunster Castle after dark for an exclusive four-hour paranormal investigation of one of Somerset's most remarkable historic locations. For centuries, Dunster Castle has stood high above the medieval village of Dunster, witnessing generations of occupation, conflict, change and countless lives lived within its walls. When the doors close to the public and darkness falls, you'll have the opportunity to experience the castle in a very different way. Join Extours for a paranormal investigation evening as we explore a selection of the castle's historic rooms and atmospheric spaces, combining documented history, local stories and reported experiences with a range of traditional and modern paranormal investigation techniques. This is not a ghost walk. You won't simply be hearing stories about the castle — you'll be taking part in the investigation yourself. What to Expect The evening will begin with a welcome, safety briefing and introduction to the equipment and investigation techniques we'll be using. Guests will then be divided into smaller groups of approximately 15, allowing us to investigate different areas of the castle in a more controlled environment. We'll gradually explore different approaches to paranormal investigation, which may include: K2 and EMF meters REM pods and environmental monitoring equipment Dowsing experiments Cat balls and trigger objects EVP and audio experiments Spirit box sessions Controlled silence and group experiments Estes-style experiments where appropriate You do not need any previous paranormal investigation experience. Your Extours hosts will explain the equipment, experiments and methods throughout the evening. Explore After Dark One of the most exciting parts of the evening will be a designated free-roam investigation period. You'll be given the opportunity to explore agreed areas away from the structured group sessions and conduct your own investigation. Depending on final access arrangements, this may include atmospheric areas around the Gatehouse, oubliette and other agreed parts of the castle grounds and buildings. Whether you choose to investigate with other guests, spend time quietly observing a location or simply experience what it feels like to stand within the castle after hours, this is your opportunity to explore at your own pace within the designated investigation areas. History, Folklore & Reported Experiences As with all Extours experiences, we believe it is important to distinguish between documented history, folklore, reported paranormal experiences and what happens during an investigation. Throughout the evening, your hosts will introduce you to the history and stories connected with the areas you are investigating, providing context for some of the experiences and traditions associated with Dunster Castle. We will never present the results of paranormal equipment or unexplained experiences as proof of paranormal activity. Instead, the evening gives you the opportunity to experiment, observe and make up your own mind. Paranormal activity can never be guaranteed. Sometimes an investigation can produce unusual or difficult-to-explain results. Sometimes a location can remain completely quiet. That uncertainty is part of genuine paranormal investigation. It may therefore not be suitable for guests with significant mobility requirements. Guests must remain within the designated investigation areas and follow instructions from Extours and Dunster Castle staff throughout the evening.
