Totnes Ghost Walk – Tour Description Step into the hidden history of Totnes on an evening ghost walk exploring the town's medieval streets, civic power, folklore, lost religious sites and accounts of the unexplained. Long known for its ancient origins and independent spirit, Totnes has a past shaped by trade, defence, justice, belief and superstition. Its historic streets and quieter corners offer a rich and atmospheric setting for stories that linger long after daylight fades. Guided by an Extours host, you'll uncover researched tales of unusual events, enduring legends and reported encounters linked to some of Totnes' most historic locations — from medieval gateways and market spaces to streets once shaped by authority, punishment and faith. Guests may choose to take part in optional paranormal investigation using EMF meters, dowsing rods and other recognised tools, or simply enjoy the storytelling and atmosphere as the walk unfolds. We avoid gimmicks and jump scares. Our aim is to intrigue rather than terrify, exploring the unanswered mysteries and unresolved experiences woven into Totnes' long and layered history. Age Guidance Early walks are family-friendly and open to under-16s (recommended age 8+). Later evening walks are 16+ to provide an adults-only experience. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on all walks. Weather Walks run in most weather conditions. If severe weather makes the event unsafe, the walk will be postponed and an alternative date offered.
