Bakewell Old House Museum

Bakewell Old House Museum occupies a building on Cunningham Place in Bakewell, Derbyshire, dating mainly from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, thought to have evolved from a medieval hall and cross wing associated with a 1534 lease from the Dean and Chapter of Lichfield Cathedral. The building is Grade II* listed. In 1777 Sir Richard Arkwright leased the property and converted it into six dwellings for mill employees. It later fell into disrepair before being restored in 1959 by the Bakewell and District Historical Society, which established it as a local history museum, a use it retains today across its several rooms.
