Ballygally Castle Hotel

Ballygally Castle, on the Antrim coast near Larne, is a tower house of the early to mid-seventeenth century, built in the Scottish style with a four-storey L-shaped plan and later additions. It is a listed historic building, first designated in 1976, with the listing covering the castle itself along with its boundary walls, piers and circular flanker towers. Its official record notes walls around five feet thick and bartizan turrets to the upper corners, features characteristic of defensive tower houses of the period. Formerly a private residence, the building's current recorded use is as a hotel, with later accommodation wings added alongside the historic tower.
