Ghost Hunts at Halifax Playhouse Theatre

The Halifax Playhouse Theatre occupies a stone building erected in the early to mid nineteenth century as a Methodist chapel, which opened in January 1836. Its pedimented front, framed by strip pilasters and a Greek Doric entrance portico, survives largely unaltered externally. The Halifax Thespians amateur dramatic society acquired the building and converted its interior into a theatre, which opened in 1949, retaining the chapel's decorative plaster ceiling. The building, together with its entrance gateway and railings, is listed at Grade II on the National Heritage List for England, and remains in continuous use as a working theatre.
