Ghost Hunts at Merley House

Merley House near Wimborne was built between 1752 and 1760 for the bibliophile and collector Ralph Willett, with two further wings added in 1772 to house his growing library and picture collection. Around 1805 the house was altered for his heir, John Willett Adye, and the added wings were demolished around 1813. Constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with Portland stone dressings, the house is Grade I listed, a designation first made in June 1954. Merley House has since been adapted for other uses, including as a museum and residential flats, while retaining its Georgian principal elevations.
