Ghost Hunts at Shepton Mallet Prison

Shepton Mallet Prison stands on the Cornhill site bought in 1625, when Somerset magistrates established a house of correction for the eastern division of the county and admitted the first inmates the same year. The buildings were extended and rebuilt repeatedly over the following centuries, and the prison remained in use until it closed in March 2013, when it was reported as the oldest working prison in the United Kingdom. Historic England lists the prison at Grade II*, recognising its architectural and historic interest. The site is now open to visitors.
