Ghost Hunts at Derby Gaol

Derby Gaol occupies cells beneath 50–51 Friar Gate, on the site of the county gaol that operated on Friar Gate from the mid-eighteenth century until the 1840s. The Georgian range above, numbers 47 to 51 Friar Gate, is a late eighteenth-century ashlar-faced building listed at Grade II*. Stories of hauntings in the cells are told by the venue and by local ghost tours; they are reported stories rather than documented history.
