Nottingham Arts Theatre on George Street, in the Hockley area of the city, occupies the former George Street Particular Baptist Church. The chapel opened in 1815 to designs by Edward Staveley and served its congregation until the late 1940s, when it was remodelled as a Co-operative theatre. It has operated as an independent theatre run by an educational charity since 2001.
