Ghost Hunts at Bolsover Castle

Bolsover Castle in Derbyshire occupies the site of a fortress founded in the late eleventh century by William Peveril, a knight of William the Conqueror. On its ruins, Sir Charles Cavendish began the surviving Little Castle in 1612, and after his death in 1617 his son William, later 1st Duke of Newcastle, completed its interiors with architect John Smythson. The complex also includes the Riding House, recognised as the earliest surviving building of its type in England, reflecting William Cavendish's interest in horsemanship. The Terrace Range, added later, now survives as a roofless shell. The castle is cared for by English Heritage and remains open to visitors.
