Ghost Hunts at Rifles Museum

The Rifles Museum in Salisbury occupies The Wardrobe, a building at 58 The Close whose core preserves the layout of a thirteenth-century canon's residence. Ownership passed from the Cathedral clergy to the Bishop of Salisbury, and from 1568 the house was leased to lay tenants, with much of its current external appearance dating from nineteenth-century alterations. In 1979 the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment Wardrobe Holding Charity took a long lease on the building, and the regimental museum housed within it was formally opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in July 1992. The building today combines its long ecclesiastical and domestic history with its later role as a military museum.
