The building on Windsor Road in Saltburn-by-the-Sea was constructed in 1903 as Saltburn Girls' High School, designed by Russell & Cooper, with Edwin Cooper as contract architect, for West Richmondshire Council. Built of red brick with ashlar dressings under slate roofs in a Neo-Georgian style, on a U-shaped plan, it later served as a primary school. It is a Grade II listed building, first designated on 26 May 1999 under the name Saltburn Primary School (Marske Mill Base). After the primary school relocated, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council granted a fifty-year lease of the building in 2014 to a community theatre company, giving the former school a continuing public use.
