The Bull Hotel in Long Melford began as a fifteenth-century open hall house, its medieval hall rebuilt in the 1520s when the property first came into use as an inn. It has traded as an inn called the Bull since at least 1580, when it appeared on a manor map of that date. The timber-framed building retains exposed framing, a jettied upper storey and two large external chimney stacks, alongside a courtyard enclosed by later wings. Two cottages at its southern end were incorporated into the inn and rebuilt in seventeenth-century style. The Bull Hotel is a Grade II* listed building, first listed in February 1978.
