Craig y Nos Castle

Craig y Nos Castle in the upper Tawe Valley was built in 1841-43 for Rhys Davies Powell to designs by the architect T.H. Wyatt. The opera singer Adelina Patti bought the property in 1879 and commissioned a large extension, completed in 1891, along with a theatre built in 1890. The main house is a Grade II* listed building, designated on 14 March 1985, while the theatre carries the higher Grade I listing in its own right. The castle sits within a terraced Victorian garden overlooking the River Tawe in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
