The Grand Pavilion stands on Porthcawl's seafront, a Grade II listed building designated in 1998. It was built in 1931-32 to a design by architect E J E Moore, with L G Mouchel acting as consultant engineer for its distinctive ferro-concrete dome, an early and significant example of the technique. The building opened on 8 August 1932 and has served as a centre for live entertainment ever since, hosting theatre, concerts and dances. Its octagonal domed form with flanking loggia wings and central clock tower remains a focal point of the town's esplanade, set within the Porthcawl Conservation Area.
