Ghost Hunts at Dudley Castle

Dudley Castle occupies a limestone hill above the town, within grounds now shared with Dudley Zoo. Dudley Council's historic environment record describes a motte-and-bailey castle of about 1070, remodelled in stone in the mid twelfth and early fourteenth centuries, slighted in the 1180s and rebuilt in the mid to late thirteenth century, with the domestic wing demolished and rebuilt in the 1530s. The castle was scheduled as an ancient monument in February 1915, and the upstanding remains were listed at Grade I in September 1949.
