Ghost Hunts at Steelhouse Lane

Steelhouse Lane in central Birmingham is home to a Grade II listed cell block, designated in 1982, built at the corner of Coleridge Passage. The brick and terracotta lock-up opened in 1891 to serve the newly established Victoria Law Courts nearby, providing custody accommodation for prisoners awaiting trial. It continued in police use for well over a century, finally closing as an operational custody suite in 2016. The building has since been given a new function, now housing the West Midlands Police Museum, which preserves and interprets its long institutional history for visitors.
