Ghost Hunts at Montgomery Theatre

The Montgomery Theatre on Surrey Street, Sheffield, opened in 1886 as the Montgomery Hall, designed by architect Charles John Innocent, with its foundation stone laid in July 1884. It was built for the Sheffield Sunday School Union, founded in 1812, and named in memory of one of its founders, the poet and reformer James Montgomery. The building survived the Sheffield Blitz during the Second World War and a major fire in 1971, continuing in use as a community and performance venue. In January 2025 it joined the Sheffield Theatres Trust, which also operates the Crucible, Lyceum and Tanya Moisiewitsch Playhouse, becoming the fourth venue in the country's largest theatre complex outside London.
