The former West Bar police, fire and ambulance station in Sheffield was built between 1897 and 1900 to a design by the architect J. Norton, and retains one of the few surviving fire brigade watch towers in the United Kingdom. The building is Grade II listed, first designated in October 1987. It now houses a museum, which opened in the former station in May 1984 as the Sheffield Fire and Police Museum before being renamed the National Emergency Services Museum in January 2014. The site preserves its original red brick and ashlar construction, along with the distinctive watch tower positioned between the former police and fire station wings.
