Ghost Hunts at Dover Castle

Dover Castle, overlooking the town and the Strait of Dover, was established by King Henry II, with the great tower and inner bailey curtain wall built mainly between 1179 and 1189. The site also preserves a Roman lighthouse standing around 19 metres high, built in the 1st century AD to guide shipping into the Roman port at the mouth of the River Dour. Beneath the castle runs a series of tunnels constructed in phases between the 13th and 20th centuries. The whole is a Scheduled Monument, first designated in October 1964, with its principal medieval remains and the lighthouse separately Grade I listed.
