Eyam is a village in the Derbyshire Dales within the Peak District National Park, designated a conservation area by the Peak District National Park Authority in 1981 and extended in 1993. Between 1665 and 1666, the village experienced a serious outbreak of plague, in which around 260 people died out of a population of roughly 800, a documented episode in the parish's history. Among the village's historic buildings is Eyam Hall, a Grade II* listed small country house on Church Street, first listed in 1951 and dated in part to the seventeenth century. The village's built fabric reflects several centuries of continuous settlement.
