Ghost Hunts at The Counting House Pontefract

The Counting House in Swales Yard, Pontefract, is a Grade II listed, half-timbered building dating from 1609. Structural analysis indicates it originated as three or four separate timber-framed cottages, later combined into the two-storey, jettied building seen today. It was originally used as a merchant's counting house and has since served as residential housing at various points in its history. The building's timber-framed upper floor sits above stone ground-floor walls, a distinctive survival among Pontefract's older commercial buildings.
