Ghost Hunts at Walton Hall

Walton Hall stands within Walton Hall Gardens on the edge of Warrington. The house was built between 1836 and 1838 for Sir Gilbert Greenall, a brewer and long-serving Member of Parliament for Warrington, with a further extension added to the building between 1869 and 1870. It is recorded on the National Heritage List for England as a Grade II listed building, a designation made in December 1983. Warrington Corporation purchased the hall and its surrounding estate in 1941, and the gardens were opened to the public in 1945. The estate remains in council ownership today, with the hall's Victorian clock tower a notable surviving feature of the nineteenth-century extension.
