Abington Museum

Abington Park Museum occupies Abington Abbey, a manor house of early sixteenth-century origin set within Abington Park in Northampton. The building was largely rebuilt between 1675 and 1678 and refronted on its south and east elevations around 1740, giving it much of its present appearance. It is recorded on the National Heritage List for England as a Grade I listed building, first listed in January 1952. The house takes its name 'Abbey' from a later period in its history, though it was never a religious foundation itself. Today the building is run by Northampton Museums and Art Gallery as Abington Park Museum, telling the history of the house, the park and the local area.
